Research into the ‘new fundraisers’ almost complete
Data collection from Dr Beth Breeze’s study into what makes a great fundraiser is now almost complete.
More that 1,200 fundraisers have completed the online survey, which included questions about personal and professional backgrounds as well as a personality test and an emotional intelligence scale.
This was followed up by 40 in-depth interviews with successful fundraisers – defined as those leading large fundraising departments and/or peer-recognised excellence such as award recipients.
Final interviews are now being arranged, and Dr Breeze has asked anyone wishing to take part to contact her at the University of Kent.
The results of the study – which has been funded with a grant from the Leverhulme Trust – will be published in a book from Policy Press in early 2017 called ‘The New Fundraisers: who organises generosity in contemporary society?’.
