Community Foundation for Ireland widens grant eligibility

Howard Lake | 16 January 2012 | News

From this month the annual income threshold for applicant organisations to the Community Foundation for Ireland’s (CFI) Grassroots Grants has been revised upwards from €250,000 to €1,000,000 per annum.
This will mean that a greater number of organisations will now be eligible to apply for a small grant under the scheme.
CFI works with community and voluntary groups in the Republic of Ireland. Through the Grassroots Grants Scheme it aims to support disadvantaged communities by providing small grants for specific projects that will contribute to alleviating isolation and disadvantage. Since 2000, the scheme has supported hundreds of groups in this way.
Grants are usually for a particular action involving one of the five target areas below. Ongoing, core or capital costs will not be considered. The Grassroots Grants Scheme has a particular focus on:
• Carers
• Older People
• Families at Risk
• Ethnic minorities
• Mental Health
The closing dates for 2012 are:
• 30th March
• 29th June
• 28th September
• 28th December
Applicants can apply online or download an application from CFI’s website.
