Next week's National Will Week to promote making a will

Howard Lake | 25 July 2007 | News

National Will Week is a week-long initiative, running from 29 July to 4 August, to promote the benefits of encouraging people to make their Wills. It is being run by Sovereign Will and Probate Services Ltd, a provider of Solicitor’s in-home Will writing services.

Sovereign, which provides its in-home Solicitors Will-writing service in England and Wales, and Scotland, already provide a Will-writing service to charities including The Animal Health Trust, Childlife, and the National Deaf Children’s Society.

Commenting on the fact that over two thirds of the UK population do not have a valid Will, Nick Plumb, Operations Director at Sovereign, said: “We feel that this initiative will make more people aware of the benefits of making a Will and encourage them to address this important but often overlooked task. If we can also encourage people to make a legacy to their favourite charity, this has also got to be a very positive step.”

Chris Mole, MP for Ipswich, has backed the campaign, saying: “Making a will is something that millions of people put off because it is inconvenient or they do not understand the implications of dying without a Will. I learned a number of years ago of the problems that can be left to a partner if you die without making a will and chose to make mine. I am delighted that Sovereign, a business based in my constituency of Ipswich, are promoting the benefits of making a Will through National Will Week.”

During National Will Week, Sovereign Will and Probate Services is offering couples booking an appointment one Will at no charge, and single people will receive a 50% discount on the price of their Will.

Sovereign’s service involves a local Estate Planning Consultant visiting clients in their own home at a convenient time, to help them through the process of taking their instructions for their Wills. The client’s instructions are then sent to Sovereign where a leading firm of Solicitors prepares the documents and returns them to the client ready for signing and witnessing within 14 days.
