118 499 directory enquiries raises £50,000 for two charities

118 499, the Share Charity directory enquiry number has now served one million callers, generating £50,000 to be split between Barnardo’s and the British Red Cross.
Every call to 118 499 produces a 5p (plus VAT) donation split between the two charities.
Martin Narey, Barnardo’s Chief Executive, said: “This is a great example of innovative and creative fundraising and we would like to thank Share for choosing Barnardo’s as its preferred charity.”
