Diana Fund and Franklin Mint reach legal settlement

Howard Lake | 11 November 2004 | News

The BBC reports that the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund has reached an out of court settlement with US souvenir firm Franklin Mint.

The settlement follows Franklin Mint’s claim in 2002 for $25 million for malicious prosecution after the Fund had tried in 1998 to prevent the company from producing souvenirs bearing the likeness of Princess Diana.

According to a joint statement, no money was made by any of the key parties in the settlement.

A spokesman for the Fund told the BBC that grants would be resumed immediately. All grants had been frozen in July 2003 as the costly legal battle continued.
