The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has launched a public appeal to provide emergency aid to people in Darfur, Sudan.

The appeal was launched with television appeals by BBC Breakfast presenter Natasha Kaplinsky and actress Joanna Lumley.

This is the DEC’s 50th appeal since it was established in 1963 to co-ordinate the UK’s national appeal in response to disasters overseas.
