American online constituent relationship management solutions (eCRM) provider Convio reports that its nonprofit clients have increased their online income by 250% during 2005 compared to 2004.

Aggregate data from Convio’s 450 customers shows a “steep rise in use of the Internet for fundraising, advocacy, constituent communications and other activities”. From 1 January to 30 November 2005, Convio’s nonprofit organisation clients used its tool to:

* raise more than $230 million online

* send more than 300 million emails, more than double the 2004 volume;

* add nearly 16 million online constituents to their databases, an increase of more than 80% compared to aggregate growth last year;

* persuade constituents to send more than 1.8 million advocacy action alerts, nearly a threefold increase compared to 2004.

Although the Southeast Asia tsunami and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita contributed to this year’s large increase in online donations, if you remove disaster-related donations, Convio’s customer base has still “more than doubled the amount of funds raised online in 2005 year-to-date compared to 2004”.
