Leeds hospice wins charity of the year
St Gemma’s hospice in Leeds has won the charity of the year award at the UK Charity Awards.
The award was made to the hospice in recognition of the fact that it had “regained focus” under a new management team and had completed the first stage of a £5m renovation.
The award for the best fundraising campaign was won by the Cumbria Community Foundation for raising £2.2m for its recovery fund in the wake of the foot and mouth epidemic last year.
