10% payroll giving petition slow to attract sign-ups

Howard Lake | 10 September 2002 | News

The petition to persuade the government to maintain the 10% top-up on payroll giving donations has not attracted many signatures from the voluntary sector so far.

A Payroll Giving Forum meeting today heard that only 700 employees of voluntary sector organisations had signed the 10% top-up petition in the past two months. The Forum is campaigning to encourage the Government to retain the 10% supplement after April 2003, when it is due to cease.

It might be a hard campaign to win, but it will not get anywhere if voluntary sector staff, and fundraisers in particular, do not demonstrate their interest in retaining this useful top-up.
