From awareness campaigns to fundraising – last corporate partnerships round up of 2021

From Virgin Pure’s campaign with PADI Aware Foundation raising awareness of the dangers of plastic waste, to HarperCollins’ largest ever donation of books to The Literacy Trust, here’s one more round of corporate partnerships for 2021.

Virgin Pure & PADI Aware Foundation

Water filtration system Virgin Pure has launched a campaign to highlight the ongoing threat posed by plastic waste, both now and in the future, in partnership with marine conservation charity, PADI Aware Foundation. All the plastic used in the photos was fished out of the sea off the coast of the UK by PADI Aware Foundation’s divers. Four popular fish dishes have been reimagined for 2050, to include actual plastic fished from the sea in place of fish and seafood to highlight the problem, including British staples such as fish & chips and fish pie.

Getting Started with TikTok: An Introduction to Fundraising & Supporter Engagement

HarperCollins & National Literacy Trust

HarperCollins has made its largest ever single donation of 160,000 books to the National Literacy Trust that will be distributed to disadvantaged children in communities with lower levels of literacy. The books are being shared amongst all of the charity’s 15 Hubs throughout December and January. HarperCollins’ donation is part of its 5 Days of Giving’ to charities and causes in England, Scotland and Ireland this Christmas and is on top of the long-term partnership between the publishers and the National Literacy Trust.


Bristol City FC, Bristol Rovers FC, & BillyChip

Captains from Bristol City FC and Bristol Rovers FC came together recently to support BillyChip and the local Bristol homeless community. Alfie Kilgour from Bristol Rovers and Dan Bentley from Bristol City met on the Lookout Lectern next to Clifton Suspension Bridge to raise awareness of the homeless across the city this Christmas. The BillyChip platform allows people to purchase a token from participating food and drink outlets which can then be given to rough sleepers and homeless people as an alternative to cash. They can then redeem the BillyChip for food, drink and other products. 


Royal Bank of Scotland, Kiltwalk & charities

Two volunteers have been recognised for their contributions to Kiltwalk with special banknotes from headline sponsors the Royal Bank of Scotland. The banknotes carry the Kiltwalk serial number to commemorate Scotland’s mass participation walking events that raise funds for charities across the country. Each volunteer will also receive a £1,000 donation to their chosen charities the British Heart Foundation and Lanarkshire Association for Mental Health, from The Kiltwalk and Royal Bank of Scotland. Kilties Keith Jones and Lorraine Moore were nominated as worthy recipients for going above and beyond in their roles as event volunteers.

New Look & charities

British global fashion chain New Look has donated more than 1,000 laptops and computers, as part of a scheme to help some of the most vulnerable in society. The laptops, computers and other tech items, such as smartphones, have been delivered to several UK charities before Christmas, including The Passage, C4WS and Migrant Help. The donations are part of a wider project run by social enterprise SocialBox.Biz, founded by former child refugee Peter Paduh, to help tackle digital exclusion among the homeless, refugees and the elderly.


Levy UK+I & British Paralympic Association

Levy UK+I has held two major fundraising events in support of its chosen charity the British Paralympic Association this year. Ahead of the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Levy UK+I supported ‘Let’s Talk Tokyo: An Evening with Adam Hills and ParalympicsGB’, an online fundraising evening. Members of the Levy UK+I team also took part in a Snowdon Challenge in October, cycling 7km to the foot of the mountain before climbing it, followed by a 2km kayak to fundraise for the charity. Together, these events have raised a combined total of over £60,000. Levy UK+I will continue to raise awareness of BPA through various fundraising initiatives, including a goal for each of its partner venues to raise, while also planning future charity dinners and team challenges for 2022.


Chestertons, St Mungo’s & The Passage

The Chestertons Foundation, the charitable arm of estate agency Chestertons, raised £80,000 in support of St Mungo’s and The Passage at its inaugural dinner on 25 November. The dinner’s Guest of Honour, Lynn Cooper, High Sheriff of Greater London spoke in support of the charities. The dinner was organised by Salah Mussa, chair of Mercantile Group and founder of the Chestertons Foundation. It follows a donation by Mussa earlier this month in support of St Mungo’s Digital Recovery College, which offers online learning and training to people recovering from homelessness.


£20 notes

IG Group & its Brighter Future Fund

IG Group has announced that for each year from 2022 to 2025, it will pledge the equivalent of 1% of the prior financial year’s post-tax profits to charitable causes. This will take the form of a Board approved payment into IG’s charitable ‘Brighter Future Fund’ and will also include employee time spent volunteering. These contributions aim to empower through education, with a focus on financial literacy, as well as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects.


Empower London Foundation & 4 charities

As Empower London Foundation continues preparations for The London Festival – a two-week cultural, arts and entertainment extravaganza scheduled for summer 2023 – the charity has announced partnerships with four additional UK-based charities to receive funds totalling around £10 million per year. The charities are Mayor’s Fund for London, UK Reads, Angel Shed Theatre, and The Access Project.


Tetra Laval & UNICEF

Tetra Laval has announced a 10-million euro contribution in support of UNICEF’s work to deliver Covid-19 vaccines globally. The donation will contribute to UNICEF’s efforts to strengthen global vaccine equity, especially in lower-income countries. Since early 2021, UNICEF has delivered more than 700 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to 144 countries around the world on behalf of the COVAX Facility.
