Social campaign asks people to donate towards a child’s trip for a freebie of their own
Lets Travel has launched a campaign with Apples & Pears to give disadvantaged children in London a day trip that gives donors a free trip out of their own.
Lets Travel for Children is asking Londoners through social media to #paywhatyoucan to give less travelled primary school children in the city a trip to Stratford on Avon. In return, donors will be offered a day trip to Brighton or Oxford, Blenheim & Bicester Village courtesy of Lets Travel on the 19th November.
Donations as small as £5 will secure a place on one of the days out, while all money raised will go towards funding a trip for up to 700 children with Lets Travel covering the rest of the balance for the children’s trip.
The campaign is being promoted via the hashtag #paywhatyoucan, and directs donors to a microsite.

Khawar Malik, chief executive at The Apples & Pears Foundation said:
“We’re delighted to be the charity partner for this initiative which will allow up to 500 children from seven of our partner schools across London to experience the magic of Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon for the first time. Trips like these are increasingly rare for many children across the country but crucial for development skills and making education fun.”
