NSPCC’s Little Stars fundraise in Oxford Street Christmas lights partnership
NSPCC is the official charity partner for this year’s Christmas lights display on Oxford Street in central London. It is inviting people across the UK to be a part of this world famous display through its Little Stars fundraising campaign.
This is the first time that a charity has partnered with the Oxford Street Christmas Lights in the 56 years in which they have decorated the shopping thoroughfare.

The children’s charity is inviting people to name a light for someone special and make a donation of £5. The funds raised will “help keep children safe this Christmas”.
The stars will then be included amongst the gold and silver baubles and LED bulbs that hang in the Christmas display above the length of Oxford Street.
The NSPCC Little Stars campaign is supported by toy manufacturer Hasbro.
Peter Wanless, chief executive of the NSPCC, said:
“We’re delighted to be chosen as the first ever charity partner for the Oxford Street Christmas Lights and are asking the public to help us light up the world famous display throughout the festive period. Anyone can get involved by making a donation and naming a star to someone special in their lives, each donation and each light will help us keep children safe from abuse, so they’re free to dream at Christmas, and all year around.”
NSPCC at the switching on event
This will be the 57th year of the Oxford Street Christmas lights. They will be officially switched on on Sunday 6 November.
On that day NSPCC will “take over Oxford Street” and host a children’s Christmas VIP Day, “celebrating and welcoming families and children of all ages”. This day of entertainment will feature on-street screens, live streaming of all the action for spectators and shoppers, music from music station Capital FM, pop-up street food stalls and special appearances from well-known children’s favourites such as My Little Pony and Transformers.
