A new open water swimming event launches this September, organised by London Marathon Events in partnership with British Swimming.
Swim Serpentine is a two-day open water swimming festival staged in and around Hyde Park’s Serpentine on 24-25th September. Day one will see up to 6,000 swimmers swim a mile in open water either for charity, or by entry through a public ballot. Day two will feature the British Open Water Swimming Championships over a distance of 3.2km, and an elite invitation 5km swim.
Charity entries close on 29th July, while the ticket ballot closes at 17:00 on 29th April, or when 16,000 applications have been received.
Tommy’s, Anthony Nolan, Cancer Research UK. And Breast Cancer Now are some of the charities offering charity places in this year’s event, with Virgin Money Giving the official fundraising partner.
Jo Barnett, head of social enterprise at Virgin Money Giving said:
“Virgin Money Giving is extremely proud to be named as the official fundraising partner of the new Swim Serpentine event. It takes place in one of London’s most iconic and well-known parks and is an excellent platform for people to raise money for charity.”
