The Royal British Legion has created a mobile application to raise funds for this year’s Poppy Appeal. The app is available for any iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Available in two editions, Gold and Platinum, it can be downloaded for 59p or £2.99 respectively.
It features an image of a poppy that will grow from seed until it reaches full maturity on 11 November at 11am. Users can also water their poppy during ‘Remembrancetide’ using a digital watering can. They can also read the poem “In Flander’s Field” set to the music “Jerusalem and, on the Platinum edition, choose from a range of backgrounds.
The app includes social elements to enable users to share and invite others to purchase and use the app.
Russell Thompson OBE,Director of National Events and Fundraising at the Royal British Legion, said: “The ‘Mobile Poppy app’ is reflective of how the Legion is striving to create innovative ways for a new generation to show their support and remember especially those members of the Armed Forces who have lost their lives fighting in Afghanistan, whilst at the same time remembering all our fallen heroes.”
The app was developed by Avatar London.
