New Chief Executive at Northern Rock Foundation

Penny Wilkinson has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Northern Rock Foundation. She joins from Museums, Libraries and Archives, North East, where as Chief Executive for three years she had a strong track record in partnership working and strategic development.

Northern Rock Foundation was established in 1998 and since then has made grants of almost £190 million, focusing on social and cultural issues and promoting social justice.

Last month the Foundation announced 22 grants totalling £1,716,006.

The Foundation will receive a minimum of £15 million a year in 2008, 2009 and 2010 from Northern Rock, as part of the arrangement under which the bank was taken into temporary public ownership.
