The secret of face-to-face attrition?

Howard Lake | 19 June 2007 | Blogs

Last week I had reason to travel to King’s Cross in London, and on exiting the tube station I found myself amongst a plethora of face-to-face fundraisers recruiting for one of my favourite organisations NCH.
I was a little amused to see that the first recruiter was a very attractive girl who appeared to have what can only be described as a queue of young men waiting to speak to her – presumably all keen to demonstrate their long standing commitment to children’s’ welfare through a regular gift to NCH.
Certainly if I had not been happily married (and had been a good few years younger, thinner, better-looking, and in possession of breath mints) I would have probably joined the queue too.
Yet, just a few yards further on, a couple of guys were working extremely hard just to attract the attention of anyone willing to stop and talk about the wonderful work of NCH. However they appeared to be all but invisible to the people rushing past.
Weird.
