Minister launches governmentfunding.org.uk

Finding sources of government funding for voluntary and community organisations has just become easier, says Fiona MacTaggart MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary for Race Equality, Community Policy, and Civic Renewal.
The minister has launched governmentfunding.org.uk, a new free access web portal containing current information on funding from four key central government departments.
The site has been developed and is managed by the Directory of Social Change,
with funding from the Government’s Active Community Unit.
The site contains searchable information and downloadable application forms
for grants available to the sector from the Department for Education and
Skills, the Department of Health, the Home Office and the Office of the
Deputy Prime Minister.
There is also a facility to allow registered organisations to receive e-mail
updates, notifying them of new programmes and updated schemes that may fund
their work.
The site was first piloted at volcomgrants.gov.uk. DSC sub-contracted technical aspects of this new project to j4b.
In 2004, governmentfunding.org.uk will enable registered organisations to apply for grants online. The site will feature a directory of users which, say DSC, “will encourage networking by enabling groups to
find details of other organisations that have registered with the site.”
Launching the site, Home Office Minister Fiona Mactaggart said: “Details of £182 million of grants can now be found in one place. The Web site will enable Government departments to co-ordinate information, reduce complication and communicate very directly with the sector.”
