Charity Finance Directors announce future plans

The Charity Finance Directors’ Group (CFDG) have today set out their agenda for the future. “Charity Management, the Way Ahead” is aimed at decision makers and opinion formers in Government and Charities.

The document asks Government to promote:

Charity Management, the Way Ahead encourages charities to maintain and develop a climate of public trust and confidence through improved communications and through adherence to, and promotion of, good practice.

CFDG was set up in 1987 and is an umbrella group with 900 members that specialises in helping charities to manage their finance-related functions. CFDG Director, Shirley Scott said: “By design or otherwise, more and more activity previously undertaken by Government is being carried out by the charity sector. If charities are to meet the challenges of the new working partnerships with Government, there must be an acceptance of new responsibilities on both sides. At this opportune time the Charity Finance Directors Group have decided to set out some key principles for the future of the sector. These are long term goals and will require commitment from both Government and charities.”
