Fiona Mactaggart MP takes on charities brief in reshuffle

Fiona Mactaggart MP has become a junior minister at the Home Office with responsibility for charities and the voluntary sector.
Slough MP Fiona MacTaggart, known as a Blair loyalist, becomes a junior minister in the Home Office.
Ms Mactaggart’s appointment is part of the ongoing reshuffle in government ministerial portfolios. The MP for Slough also has responsibility for race equality, community policy and civic renewal.

She is the fourth minister for the voluntary sector in three years, and replaces Lord Filkin who was in place for just over a year.

Organisations (NCVO), said: “With the campaign for a charities bill at a critical stage, the ACU currently reviewing the voluntary sector’s infrastructure and the ongoing controversy surrounding the Criminal Records Bureau, NCVO welcomes the appointment of Fiona Mactaggart MP and looks forward to working with her to address these and other important issues for the voluntary sector at this critical time.
