Lloyds Banking Group raises £3 million for British Heart Foundation

Howard Lake | 9 January 2011 | News

The British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) Charity of the Year partnership with Lloyds Banking Group has raised over £3 million, beating its original target by £1 million.

The partnership began in July 2008 following a staff vote, with an initial fundraising target of £2 million. This would be used to fund 15 BHF Heart Nurses. The partnership was subsequently extended to raise a further £1 million to fund 12 additional Heart Health Professionals.

Lloyds Banking Group employees and customers have been raising money for the BHF by taking part in a variety of fundraising activities and events across the UK, including group-wide quizzes, fitness challenges, sponsored events, in-branch collections and supporting the BHF’s national shop campaign ‘the BIG Donation’.

Peter Hollins, Chief Executive at the BHF thanked Lloyds Banking Group staff and customers, saying: “Thousands of heart patients throughout the UK will be able to benefit from specialist nurse treatment thanks to their efforts. To achieve £3 million is astonishing and we are extremely grateful to have had their support over the last two and a half years.”
