Nestlé UK’s first charity of the year partnership has raised £430,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, exceeding the original fundraising target by £180,000.
Since April 2009, the company’s 5,000 employees have been involved in a range of fundraising activities. These included teaming up with Sir Matthew Pinsent and other Team Nestlé athletes for sponsored rowing, running and cycling events; taking part in the Virgin London Marathon raising over £25,000; and attending a Nestlé gala dinner for customers, colleagues and friends which raised over £70,000. Nestlé topped up all individual fundraising by a further 20%.
Thomas Hughes-Hallett, Chief Executive of Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: “Thanks to everyone at Nestlé UK for raising this wonderful amount, Marie Curie Cancer Care will be able to provide 21,500 more hours of free nursing care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses”.
