Societe Generale raises £450k in first year for Alzheimer’s Society

Societe Generale nearly doubled its target by raising £450,000 in the first year of its two year partnership with Alzheimer’s Society.
The ‘Care for Today, Cure for Tomorrow’ partnership began in March 2013, and continues until February 2015. It will fund support services and research for people with dementia. The money raised has already enabled the charity to provide services such as Dementia Support Workers, Dementia Cafes, and Carers Groups, ensuring that people with dementia and their carers do not have to face everyday challenges alone.
Societe Generale has also funded the weekend opening hours of the National Dementia Helpline.

How the funds were raised

Societe Generale staff have raised the sum by climbing mountains, running marathons, cycling thousands of miles, and rowed down the Thames. For example, in October 2013, 130 employees, together with their family and friends, hiked through the night in a marathon walk through London.
