Nectar Donate opens to customers
As of today, Nectar customers can donate their points to a charity of their choice, by logging onto the Nectar app and clicking on Crowdfunder. Charities participating in Nectar Donate are eligible for donations from the £250m worth of points across Nectar’s 18 million UK members.
Nectar Donate was announced back in July last year, and gives customers the option of donating a minimum of 200 Nectar points. There are no hidden fees, so every single Nectar point donated will be converted into funding that goes directly to the chosen charitable organisation, while customers will be kept updated on how their donation has helped make a difference.
The scheme is available on the Nectar digital app and will be displayed in the same way as all other partner offers. To participate, customers need to create an account with Crowdfunder, and link their Nectar account – then they will be able to donate to their chosen cause from the charities available.

The Nectar loyalty programme is owned by Sainsbury’s. Over 18 million collectors collect Nectar points when shopping for groceries, booking a holiday and buying petrol. Collectors can also get points every time they shop online via nectar.com at almost 300 retailers.
Alex Naisby, Head of Loyalty and CRM at Nectar commented:
“We’re proud to have teamed up with Crowdfunder to launch Nectar Donate, a new and simple way for customers to support the charities and causes that they really care about with their Nectar points. Our customers have always been extremely generous whenever we have run charity donation campaigns in the past and we know that many of them are interested in supporting local charities. So, whether it’s donating those forgotten points or a bank of saved up points, we’re making it even easier for customers to turn their Nectar points into positivity.”
Simon Deverell, Founder and Creative Director at Crowdfunder said:
“At a time when charities have suffered massively due to the pandemic and donors have felt the pinch, this partnership creates an entirely new way for people to give to, and fundraise for, the causes they care about. We’re really excited about this new approach to charitable giving and we’re so pleased to add this innovation to our suite of products.”
