Motor Neurone Disease Association appoints Spencer du Bois
11th February 2008
The Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only organisation in England, Wales and Northern Ireland devoted to fighting the fatal motor neurone disease. The Association has just appointed not for profit branding consultancy Spencer du Bois to review its brand positioning.
The charity, which was set up 29 years ago, funds and promotes research to bring about an end to MND. Until they achieve a “World Free of MND”, they do all that they can to enable everyone with MND to receive the best care, achieve the highest quality of life possible, and die with dignity. The charity is now aiming to reposition itself to achieve a more clearly defined and consistent brand identity.
Max du Bois, executive Director at Spencer du Bois says: “The work of the MND Association is critical in raising the profile of the disease, driving forward scientific research and standards of care. They have done a fantastic job and we are determined to help them push their work forward.”
Donna Cresswell, Director of Communications at Motor Neurone Disease Association says: “After a competitive 4 way pitch we short-listed Spencer du Bois as the right consultancy with the best cultural fit and level of experience for our positioning needs.”

About Motor Neurone Disease (MND)
Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. There is no effective diagnostic test. There is no effective treatment and there is currently no cure. Half of people with MND die within 14 months of diagnosis. Five people a day die from the disease in the UK and MND kills 100,000 people throughout the world every year.
