Market research and consulting group Cello Group has reorganised and rebranded its Response Communications division under the name of Tangible Group.

As a result, two well-established fundraising agencies have new names: brand response agency Target Direct has been renamed Tangible Response and database marketing and customer insight business talking Numbers has been renamed Tangible Data.

The Tangible Group now becomes one of the UK’s largest integrated marketing communications groups. Employing 330 people throughout the UK and with a combined turnover of £60 million, it is now “a planning-led marketing communications group” with specialist businesses focused on advertising, direct marketing, data, digital, design, and PR.

Andy Carolan, previously CEO of Cello Group company Navigator, will take on the role of Chairman of Tangible Group, and John Rowley, previously Chairman of Cello Group companies Farm Communications and The Leith Agency, will become the CEO of Tangible Group. Each company will retain their existing management board structure.

John Rowley said: “We felt that there was a real opportunity to establish a UK agency group without a pre-set agenda. With planning as our lead discipline the client’s challenge sits at the heart of everything we do, allowing us to offer them total media objectivity, regardless of the agency discipline.”

Stephen Pidgeon, Chairman of Tangible Response, formerly Target Direct, added: “The new Tangible Group offers us complementary expertise and services for the kind of integrated marketing we know our clients are looking for. We are now in tune with exceptional data expertise from sister company Talking Numbers (now Tangible Data) and online and digital support from group companies Oomph and Blonde”.

He also announced that Paul Handley, formerly MD of the Bristol-based direct response specialist Rapier, had been appointed as the new Managing Director of Tangible Response. Pidgeon described him as “an experienced strategic planner in both brand and data, an invaluable asset in our direct response work”.

Nigel Magson, Managing Director at Tangible Data, formerly Talking Numbers, said: “we want to continue building good working relationships with the charity sector and encourage the advancement of the use of data”. He confirmed that “I will continue my involvement as a founder and Vice Chair of the IOF Special Interest Group for Data Analysis in Fundraising which focuses on the education and support for charities wanting to optimise their database marketing”.
