Institute and Bates Wells & Braithwaite London LLP Solicitors Announce Legal Seminar Partnership
The Institute of Fundraising (‘Institute’) and Bates Wells & Braithwaite London LLP (‘BWB’) are to partner to deliver three half-day seminars focusing on the key legal issues surrounding fundraising practice. The seminars, taking place between 6th May and 1st July, will provide updates on current regulations and speakers include a mix of solicitors and fundraising practitioners.
The workshops are composed of practical and advisory sessions and will be concluded with an interactive panel session during which delegates will be able to ask questions. At each event attendees will be shown how to apply theory to fundraising practice.
The three partnership conferences are:
– Event Fundraising Legalities – Tuesday 6 May;
– Working with Corporates – Tuesday 17 June;
– Data Protection and Security – Tuesday 1 July.
At Event Fundraising Legalities, BWB will provide an overview of the legal issues which impact on fundraising events, including challenge events. Working with Corporates will provide information on the new commercial participator statements, Gift Aid, VAT, sponsorship and affinity arrangements whilst Data Protection and Security will tackle all the key issues surrounding data protection and security, from acquiring and managing, to outsourcing and sharing data.
Kirsty Thomson, Head of Events at the Institute of Fundraising, says:
“These seminars will provide vital legal advice and best practice updates from both solicitors and fundraising experts.
“Continuous fundraising success goes hand in hand with the law: complying with tax, health and safety, insurance, data protection and other rules and regulations can make or break your fundraising activities.”
Rosamund McCarthy at Bates Wells & Braithwaite London LLP comments:
“We are delighted to be able to partner with the Institute of Fundraising in delivering this seminar series about legal developments and issues in fundraising.
“A sound understanding of the legal issues relating to fundraising is essential to ensure good fundraising practice and success.”
