Bursaries available for National Fundraising Convention
The Institute of Fundraising’s National Convention is one of the key conferences in the fundraiser’s year. To ensure that cost is no barrier to any fundraiser attending, the Institute of Fundraising is offering a bursary scheme for fundraising professionals in the UK and abroad who wish to attend this year’s Convention.
In partnership with The Guardian, a bursary for UK fundraisers covers the entire cost of a day delegate pass including session attendance, lunch and breaktime refreshments. In addition, 40 one-day passes are available for any day of the Convention.
In partnership with Association of Fundraising Professionals (‘AFP’), one international bursary is on offer. This includes a three-day Convention pass, party ticket, place at the National Awards, three nights of accommodation and full travel expenses. In addition, 10 travel bursaries that provide financial support towards international travel are also available.

Bursaries are open to applicants across the not-for-profit sector regardless of their cause, the size of their organisation and whether they are members of the Institute or not.
To apply for a bursary, applicants must write a supporting statement of up to 250 words, outlining why attending the National Convention 2008 would benefit them and/or their organisation. The trustees of the Institute will assess each bursary application. The deadline for making a submission is 25 April 2008.
Kirsty Thomson, Head of Events at the Institute of Fundraising, says: “We believe that it’s important for as many charities as possible to experience a day at National Convention, giving fundraisers plenty of ideas to take away with them”.
The 19th annual National Convention will take place on 7 – 9 July 2008 at the Hilton London Metropole, 225 Edgware Road, London, consisting of three full, non-residential days.
