Volunteers sought for National Convention

The Institute of Fundraising is inviting applications frm members and other fundraisers to join a team of 40 volunteers to help run its 2006 National Convention in London in July. In return for the hard work volunteers will get to attend the three-day event at no charge.

Successful applicants for the volunteer posts will be asked to work on a voluntary basis for three and a half days from 9-12 July 2006 at the Hilton London Metropole, Edgware Road.

Working with Institute staff, volunteers will be asked to help with registration, managing workshops, assisting delegates, and a range of other tasks.

In return volunteers benefit from free entry to all three days of Convention as well as meals, and accommodation where necessary. They also get to attend selected sessions on a range of fundraising topics. Since the Convention is the largest event for fundraisers in Europe, with 2,000 delegates attending over the three days, volunteers will also gain useful experience in team working and event management.

The Institute points out that volunteers are responsible for their own travel arrangements to and from the venue.

The deadline for applications is 31 March 2006.
