Kentown Wizard Foundation grants Make-A-Wish UK £200,000
The Kentown Wizard Foundation has given Make-A-Wish® UK £200,000 to pay for more than 50 children’s wishes to visit Disneyland Paris.
The Foundation was set up in 2015 by Ken Townsley, founder of the Gold Medal Travel Group, to help children and young adults living with serious illness or disability. Townsley has so far donated or pledged in the region of £100 million to the Foundation, the income from which is donated on an ongoing basis to UK registered charities.
The Foundation does not accept unsolicited applications for grants but instead identifies potential grant recipients itself whose objectives and values it believes are aligned with its own. It then visits them to learn more about what they do in order to confirm whether they are a good fit for the Foundation.
So far, in addition to the Make-A-Wish grant, the Foundation has also given grants to:
- Dreams Come True £200,000
- Rainbow Trust £60,000
- Operation Smile £200,000
- Brian House (a children’s hospice) £75,000
- Kids Cancer Trust ` £50,000
- Donna’s Dream House £20,000
Make-A-Wish CEO Jason Suckley said:
“We are hugely grateful to the Kentown Wizard Foundation for awarding this sum of money which will help us to grant truly magical wishes to very deserving children and young people.”
