New accredited course for fundraising managers
Training provider The Projects Company has announced a new accredited course for those responsible for fundraising within organisations. The Accredited Project Management for Fundraising course will last three days and forms the basis for gaining the Introductory Certificate in Project Management.
The new course is accredited by the Association for Project Management and includes a one-hour multiple choice examination at the end of day three.
“We’re very excited about this new course”, said Gina Negus, Director of The Projects Company, “as it introduces the use of project management techniques to be more efficient and effective in setting up, running and monitoring fundraising projects”.

She added: “Over the last 20 years, we’ve been working with charities to help them become more sustainable. We believe one of the ways of achieving this is to ensure the organisation is effective in managing tasks, time, people and finance and these are the elements of Project Management.”
The new course is designed to enable participants to gain an understanding of the principles of project management discipline, apply a range of methods for the planning and execution of fundraising projects, and
decide which techniques can be used to encourage and support team working.
It will also help participants measure the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of their work, gain accreditation for the ability to apply Project Management techniques in the workplace, and use terminology that supports grant applications.
Pauline Silvio, who works as a Service Planning Manager at the West Essex Primary Care Trust was a delegate on the pilot project course. She said: “I have learned more about project management methodology in three days than, I did in a six-week module at college”.
Another delegate said that the course helped them when completing their lottery application, because they understood the jargon.
There are some bursaries available for the 2007 Project Management series.
