EDF Energy chooses Mencap as its charity of the year

Howard Lake | 14 March 2005 | News

EDF Energy has selected Mencap as its new charity partner. Mencap was chosen for its ability to engage with staff at a local level and develop a partnership that is integrated into several strands of EDF Energy’s core business.

EDF Energy will work with Mencap on a range of initiatives including staff fundraising, payroll giving and volunteering. Mencap will also be working with the company’s Energy Efficiency team to develop home energy efficiency measures for people with a learning disability in the UK.

Other opportunities for joint working such as Mencap’s Safety Challenge and Workright employment programme are also being explored to maximise the potential of the partnership.

The money raised by EDF Energy will fund Mencap’s Energise programme – an accessible health, diet and fitness initiative which aims to reduce illness and increase the fitness and wellbeing of people with a
learning disability.
