Allianz Cornhill chooses ChildLine as charity of the year

Howard Lake | 20 April 2005 | News

Children’s charity ChildLine has been chosen chosen as charity of the year by leading insurer Allianz Cornhill. A clear majority of UK employees voted for ChildLine to be the beneficiary of the company’s staff fundraising activities for 2005.

The company has pledged that it will match the money raised by staff, pound for pound up to £25,000, as well as paying entry fees for employees taking part in marathons and challenge events in aid of ChildLine.

Staff at Allianz Cornhill have planned a series of fundraising events – from a cookie competition and dress-down days to charity bear auctions and raffles. The campaign, which hopes to raise as much as £55,000 for the charity, was launched with a balloon-pop at the company’s head office in Guilford.

ChildLine speaks to 2,300 children a day but lack of funds means that hundreds more can’t get through. The charity relies on public donations – including staff fundraising and corporate partnerships – for 90% of its funds each year.
