National Fundraising Convention to be held at Barbican Centre from 2016

After more than 10 years of being held at the London Hilton Metropole, the Institute of Fundraising’s National Fundraising Convention will move to the Barbican Centre in 2016.
The three-day Convention in July was again sold out, attracting more than 2,500 fundraisers. It is the largest event in Europe for fundraisers. The move, in its 26th year, to the Barbican Centre is designed to enable the event to expand even further.
Its seven tracks will present sessions on Individual Giving, Digital Fundraising, Community Fundraising, Partnerships, Philanthropy, Bigger Picture and Personal Effectiveness.
Liz Tait, Chair of National Fundraising Convention Board, said:
“We’re incredibly excited to be moving National Fundraising Convention to the Barbican Centre next year. This fantastic new venue gives us a chance to build on the successes of recent years and add some exciting new elements to the experience as well.
“The 2016 Convention Board will soon be putting together a cutting edge, content rich programme to be presented by experienced and knowledgeable speakers”.

The Institute of Fundraising is now inviting speaker proposals for its first Convention at the Barbican Centre. In particular it is looking for inspiring case studies, insightful perspectives and innovative strategies that could benefit fellow fundraisers. Proposals must be submitted online by 16 October 2015.

Barbican Centre to host National Fundraising Convention 2016
Sir Nicholas Kenyon, Managing Director at the Barbican Centre, emphasised the fact that the Barbican was itself an arts organisation and had a track record of charitable fundraising. He said:
“We believe that the arts are vital to society, and that they should be available to everyone. The Barbican pushes the boundaries of all major art forms including dance, film, music, theatre and visual arts. Over 1.8 million people pass through our doors every year, and our creative learning work with schools and communities in east London builds the skills and confidence of young people. Providing this wouldn’t be possible without the support of individuals, grant-makers and the business community whose role in keeping the arts buoyant in the UK is more important than ever.”
A Grade II listed building, the Barbican is Europe’s largest multi-arts and conference venue.
The National Fundraising Convention will take place from Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th July 2016.
