The Big Give announces The Summer Give matched funding campaign
In June this year The Big Give will for the first time run The Summer Give, a matched funding campaign for charities that provide projects supporting London’s poorest children during school holidays.
The Summer Give will run from 1 to 5 June 2015. Charities eligible to take part can register now.
The campaign is supported by The Childhood Trust, which works to alleviate child poverty in London. Funded by the Gordon Family Trust, it has acted as a champion funder on The Big Give’s Christmas Challenge, helping to leverage online giving to the value of £2.2 million for around 50 London-based projects.
Lisa Gagliani, CEO of The Childhood Trust, said:
“We believe every London child deserves the possibility of a happy, safe childhood. Our experience is that children from London who are living in poverty face increasingly difficult circumstances outside of school term time, where ‘safety-nets’ such as after-school clubs and free school dinners are not running.
“We appreciate that for lots of children and their families, school holidays are not easy and we are excited to provide match funding for charities passionate about making a difference in children’s lives during these periods.”
Alex Day, General Manager of online and matched giving platform The Big Give, added:

“The Big Give has run successful match funding schemes and we have found them to be extremely effective in assisting charities to make the most of the growing appetite to give online. Our recent Christmas Challenge campaign raised over £11.2 million for 367 charities.
“This is the first summer campaign we have run and we are delighted to be partnering with The Childhood Trust to try and reach vulnerable children in London who desperately need additional support during the school holidays.”
