Santander raises over £1.3m for NSPCC

Howard Lake | 8 January 2015 | News

Santander has beaten its goal of £1 million by raising over £1.3 million during 2014 for children’s charity NSPCC, its charity of the year.

The money will be used to fund the charity’s ChildLine Schools Service and other services. It will enable the NSPCC to deliver age-appropriate workshops and assemblies to 100,000 children in primary schools across the UK and Channel Islands, helping 9-11 year olds understand abuse, how to protect themselves and where to get help if they need it.

Santander’s charity of the year is voted on by its staff. Last year they took part in fundraising activities that included ‘Total Wipeout’ physical challenges, climbing Snowdon in the dark, cycling across Spain, parachuting, and tower running.

Staff also attended ChildLine Schools Service assemblies to see first-hand how the money raised will help to protect children and prevent abuse before it starts.
