Santander staff and customers have raised £1 million for Marie Curie Cancer Care, the retail and commercial bank's charity partner for 2012. This is double the amount it set out to raise, making it Santander's most successful charity partnership to date.
Fundraising activities by staff included charity bakes, collections, quizzes, hikes, It's A Knockout tournaments, and the Santander Flame Relay, an 18-leg nationwide event. Staff who trekked along the Great Wall of China raised £200,000.
Charlotte Hogg, Head of Retail Distribution and Intermediaries at Santander said: "Our Charity of the Year partnerships are a significant part of our support for communities, and the money that we raised in 2012 will make a real difference for terminally ill people all over the UK."
