Law firm offers £50k award to charities promoting access to justice

Charitable organisations that promote access to justice are invited to apply for the Access to Justice Award from international law firm Clifford Chance.
Now in its firth year, the award consists of a donation of £50,000 and up to 500 hours of volunteering from Clifford Chance lawyers and business services staff over 18 months.
The award will recognise a not-for-profit organisation that helps individuals, groups or communities preserve or secure their rights to the basic necessities of life.
Last year, 48 nominations were made from around the world. The winner was Hope and Homes for Children, which works to transform child protection systems to uphold and protect the rights of children.
Malcolm Sweeting, Senior Partner at Clifford Chance who chairs the judging panel, said:
“Fair and universal access to justice is at the heart of our community commitment and is a concept, as lawyers, we hold particularly dear. Every year, the entries for this award demonstrate how much there is yet to be done but also bring to our attention fantastic work, often being undertaken by entrepreneurial NGOs, that has a direct impact on individuals and their families. We’re delighted to be able to support these organisations through the award.”
Nominations can be made via the Clifford Chance website until the end of Sunday 6 July 2014. The winner will be announced in October.
