The Samaritans received twice as many e-mails from people needing their services in 1998 than they did in 1997. E-mail receipts rose from 7,000 in 1997 to 15,3000 last year, and the charity expects the figure to rise to 30,000 this year.
The Samaritans received twice as many e-mails from people needing their services in 1998 than they did in 1997. E-mail receipts rose from 7,000 in 1997 to 15,3000 last year, and the charity expects the figure to rise to 30,000 this year. The Samaritans found that, whereas around one quarter of telephone callers talked of committing suicide, more than half of e-mail contacts did so.
