Here’s news of three funding opportunities, for charities and community groups in Yorkshire, Wales, and UK-wide.
Yorkshire Water offers more grants for organisations supporting vulnerable people
Yorkshire Water’s vulnerability partnership fund will allocate up to £35,000 to local charities and organisations working with vulnerable people.

The fund will support charities and organisations in raising awareness of Yorkshire Water’s Priority Services Register and encouraging people to sign up to the free service. Last year’s fund saw seven charities encourage over 1,500 sign ups.
The priority services help customers that might need extra support when communicating with Yorkshire Water, those who may be significantly impacted if they can’t access water for a short period of time, or people who would like to tailor their account so that a loved one or carer can manage it on their behalf.
Organisation can bid for up to £5,000 in funding.
Ash Roberts, public safety and safeguarding manager at Yorkshire Water, said:
“Customers often tell us how important the priority services are to them, so we want to raise as much awareness as possible and ensure they can be accessed by anyone that needs them.
“By registering for the priority services, customers can explain any additional needs they may have, whether that is naming someone else to take care of their account, informing us they require Braille or audio letters, or telling us they need additional support if their water supply is interrupted.”
Applications for the fund will close on 4 Feb.
Tesco offers 60 charities & community projects a new year boost
Until Sunday 6 February, listeners of Heart and Smooth radio stations across the UK working with charities or not for profit organisations can apply for a one-off £5,000 cash grant. A total £300,000 is available.
Priority will be given to projects that provide food and support to young people, with examples including school breakfast clubs, local food banks, or charities supporting young people to manage mental health.
The campaign is running in addition to Tesco Community Grants, the in-store scheme where customers vote with blue tokens for community projects and groups, which has been helping local people since 2016.
Claire de Silva, Head of Community at Tesco, said:
“We know the start of the year can be tough for many families financially, and so we wanted to find a way to give something extra to the communities our stores support across the country.
“We hope that Heart and Smooth listeners will help us celebrate all the community groups who make such a difference to young people and families, not just in January, but year round too. We’re really proud to be launching this new campaign, which is an extra boost to our Tesco Community Grants scheme that already helps thousands of people every year.”

Support for young entrepreneurs in Wales
Funding is available as part of a package of support aimed at helping young people in Wales into business.
The Ideas to Innovation programme combines seed funding with direct support including training, business support, access to premises and mentoring, aimed at helping people to develop and commercialise their business ideas.
It focuses on investing in new ideas, entrepreneurship skills to turn those ideas into innovations, creating a new business accelerator in Rhondda Cynon Taff and in supporting enterprising young people into starting a business.
The scheme is open to anyone with a new idea and a maximum of 20 places are available on the programme, which will start in February.
To qualify for support, applicants must demonstrate:
- an idea that can lead to new products, business models, processes or services
- an idea that is significantly ahead of others in the field and that has potential for rapid commercialisation
- an understanding of who are the potential customers or users and what their needs and problems are
- clear potential to significantly impact on the Rhondda Cynon Taf, Cardiff Capital Region and Welsh economy in a positive way
