GOSH Charity announces recruitment drive & creation of new fundraising directorate
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity) is launching a recruitment drive this month following a recent organisational restructure, which includes the creation of a new fundraising directorate.
Completed at the end of September, the restructure was carried out to support the charity’s new five-year strategy. The fundraising directorate will have a headcount of around 130, and will bring into one team all areas of fundraising to support the charity’s drive for significant income growth. The charity has also created a new marketing and communications directorate, bringing brand, digital and communications together into a single team.
GOSH Charity plans to advertise for more than 60 positions over the next three months, around 50 of which will be for jobs in fundraising. These will include roles in the innovation, philanthropy, partnerships and special events teams as well as committed giving, legacy & donor development, data, mass participation and community teams. Other available positions are in finance and resources, as well as several in the new marketing and communications directorate.

Louise Parkes, GOSH Charity’s Chief Executive said:
“Like so many charities across our sector, we had to adapt quickly and adjust how we work as a result of the significant challenges we faced due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Our new organisational strategy is underpinned by a bold fundraising strategy, we are packed full of ambition and we’re in the fortunate position to be able to invest in fundraising and build on the charity’s impressive legacy.
“We already have truly high performing colleagues working across the whole charity, this is a very exciting time to join us and have the opportunity to work on transformational and career defining projects.”
Liz Tait, GOSH Charity’s Director of Fundraising said:
“Despite all of its disruption, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought to the fore the incredible impact fundraising can have. At GOSH Charity, our mission to support seriously ill children and their families from across the UK has never been more important. Our new fundraising strategy has ambitious targets, which will include the largest capital build project we have ever undertaken.
“We particularly encourage applications from communities which are under-represented in the charity sector. Earlier this year we launched our three-year EDI strategy and we are committed to becoming a more inclusive workforce, reflecting the diverse communities with whom we work. We look forward to welcoming new colleagues to join our great teams who help us to support the 600 children and their families who are treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital every day.”
When appointed, the Director of Marketing and Communications will join the senior leadership team, which currently comprises CEO Louise Parkes, Fundraising Director Liz Tait, Director of Grants and Impact Kiki Syrad and Director of Finance and Resources Bill Cunningham. Tait joined in 2020, in what was a new role for GOSH Charity at the time.
The charity also recently launched a hybrid working framework, which offers staff the option of working from home two to three days a week.
Roles will be advertised on the charity’s own website as well as on LinkedIn.
