Grant application and matching platform Brevio has launched an auto-matching system that matches charities and voluntary organisations to the most suitable grants for their funding requirements.

The real-time grant matching platform provides non-profits with access to nearly 3,000 funding organisations with £3billion to give away in return for non-profits detailing what they need and why. With this data, Brevio aims to create a national picture of the sector’s needs to help funders understand where their money can have the greatest impact. The platform is free for six months, after which it have a small subscription fee.

With the platform, non-profits can create a profile of funding needs that can be used for any online grant application inside of Brevio, or elsewhere. Non-profits input their funding needs and are continuously paired with a range of compatible funders.

The matches include new progressive funders, which are encouraged to design grants in line with Brevio’s real time charity insights, as well as a growing pool of corporate and traditional grant givers using their own application systems. If charities do not find a match immediately, they will begin to receive instant notification emails of any subsequent matches as new grant criteria is published by or on behalf of funders.

According to Brevio, the platform is ‘the equivalent of someone dating online being presented with possible matches from across all the dating services available online, as well as the ability to reach potential dates that don’t exist yet, or dates who were waiting to find out what you wanted’.

Marcelle Speller OBE, founder of Brevio, as well as of luxury home share platform Holiday-Rentals.com (now part of the Expedia group) and Localgiving.org, said:

“Far too much time, energy, and money is spent by non-profits scouring the internet to find grants that fit their needs or having to hit very strict funder criteria, and the worst part is, more often than not, these applications are unsuccessful. Since our inception, we have been conducting research and have found that over £1bn is spent on researching and applying for grants each year in staff time by UK charities, and the vast majority are unsuccessful.

“Our aim is to auto-match non-profits with funders based on the impact they both want to achieve. We also want to give charities and voluntary organisations the tools to get hold of grants from a wider range of places, by giving them a platform to voice what they need to a network of funders, as well as providing them with a profile they can use inside of Brevio and beyond. Thus, freeing up charity time to focus on delivering their vital services or working at a higher skill capacity.”
