The Business Journalists Association of Ireland’s annual corporate challenge quiz, which has raised over €500,000 since it started 17 years ago, is expected to raise €50,000 for homeless people this year.

“The BJAI Corporate Challenge fundraising initiative has been a vital fundraising lifeline for Dublin Simon Community over the years,” Justyna Drogomirecka, corporate fundraising manager of the Dublin Simon Community, told the Irish Times.

This year’s event is sponsored by Hostelworld and airport operator DAA while the Reputations Agency is donating event management and public relations services.

Each year the event attracts some of the teams from the legal, business and communications sectors. Last year’s winner was legal firm William Fry.

€1,000 corporate tables

Most of the income from the quiz comes from selling corporate tables at €1,000 each and from donations to the event.

This year’s quiz  will take place in November at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dublin, with RTÉ’s Bryan Dobson as quizmaster.

Dublin Simon Community’s income from charitable sources and the state has grown significantly. Last year, total income was €19.2 million (€15.7 million in 2016), of which €7.9 million was from fundraising, up from €6.5 million the year before.
