Facebook is now letting users with verified pages add donate buttons to their Facebook live video broadcasts.

This function was introduced for nonprofits in 2016, but is now being extended to all Page owners.

Individuals, businesses, brands and organisations can now receive donations during live videos. People watching the live broadcast can donate as they watch, or give once the broadcast has ended and is posted on the Page.

As with all of Facebook’s charity-focused services, the only organisations that can currently receive these donations are US nonprofits. But expect it to be rolled out to UK charities.

The new facility was announced on the same day that Google announced it was trialling personal fundraising campaigns for US users.
