Birmingham Hippodrome fundraising gala dinner raises £50,000

Birmingham Hippodrome held its sixth Gala Dinner on 14th May for nearly 300 guests. raising over £50,000 for the theatre’s Hippodrome CREATIVE, which delivers projects across the region for young people and underprivileged groups, and free community performances.
With a theme of ‘Hippodrome Heritage’, celebrating over 117 years of arts and entertainment at the city’s Hurst Street theatre, the event was sponsored by Genting Hotel and Laurent Perrier, and directed by Michael Harrison,
The evening included performances from musical stars, including Ria Jones who performed selections from both Sunset Boulevard and Piaf, Allan Stewart who reprised his award-winning role of Al Jolson, and The Rat Pack’s Stephen Triffit who delivered his performance of Frank Sinatra. A sealed bids auction and a Heritage quiz also took place.
Martin Guest, Hippodrome Development Trust chair, said:

“This is a truly amazing result. All the funds raised will go directly to projects across the city in schools and colleges, and to making sure everyone’s welcome through even more free outdoor performances.”
