Give as you Switch offers extra donation channel to charities

Give as you Live has announced an extension to its fundraising services that will see donations raised for charities when a supporter switches energy or insurance provider.
The new initiative is called Give as you Switch, and will raise up to a maximum of £17 when someone switches providers.
As with Give as you Live, the service is free to all UK registered charities who can register online, and the donation is made by Give as you Live out of commission received from the insurance providers. Supporters can enter details about themselves and the policy they want, and receive quotes from a number of providers to enable them to compare premiums and features. They can also use the service to notify Give as you Switch of their renewal dates to ensure they have plenty of time to raise even bigger donations.
So far, Give as you Live has helped to raise £7 million for UK charities.
Annabelle Risdon, head of charities at Give as you Live, said:

“By launching Give as you Switch, we’re hoping to make switching providers simple and give families an opportunity to save, while boosting revenue for charities with up to £17 per user. A simple way for people to give back while improving their own circumstances, Give as you Switch expands our portfolio of fundraising products that help boost a charity’s revenue stream through technology.”

Although they don’t provide a specific switching service, Easyfundraising, The Giving Machine, and Give4Sure also give donations to charities when supporters shop for insurance, and in some cases, utilities, on their sites.
