Cancer charity launches app for Daffodil Day

Dell Ireland and the Irish Cancer Society (ICS) have announced a free Daffodil Day smartphone app to be used in their annual Daffodil campaign, the charity’s biggest fundraising event of the year.
ICS hopes the app will help to counter any potential drop in income due to bad weather which last year cost the charity nearly €500,000 following heavy rain and snow. Most of the Daffodil Day income comes from street sales involving thousands of volunteers throughout Ireland.
The app works on all platforms and its features include a location mapping function that allows users to discover nearby Daffodil Day merchandise sellers in their area. This year’s Daffodil Day is 28th March.
As well as allowing users to volunteer or donate, the Daffodil Day app includes news, social media links, the history of Daffodil Day and Dell’s involvement.
Shane Breslin, Web Services Manager from ICS, said:

“What better way to generate awareness of and support for Daffodil Day among young people than through a free smartphone app? The tech experts at Dell have come up with a range of brilliant features including a dynamic map that lets you track down locations where campaign merchandise is available.”

The Daffodil Day app for the Irish Cancer Society is available to download free from Google Play, Windows Phone and the iOS App Store.
