Cargill commits to three more years of support for FareShare

Cargill, the international producer and marketer of food, agricultural, financial and industrial products and services, is to continue its support for food redistribution charity FareShare for three more years.
This will enable the charity to provide enough food for more than 900,000 meals to community projects across the North West.
The ongoing support is timely as 60% of FareShare‘s member charities acoss the North West report an increase in the number of people turning to them for good.
Between them, FareShare North West and FareShare Merseyside currently support more than 150 charities in the region, including homeless shelters, breakfast clubs for children and uncheon clubs for the elderly.
Cargill has committed to providing £225,000 over thee years. This will enable FareShare to invest in providing more support services for their beneficiaries, such as counselling. It will also fund expansion to help them supply food to more charities in the region.
Martin Douglas, UK representative for Cargill, said: “As a global company, we believe that everyone should have access to a steady supply of safe, nutritious and affordable food. We partner with organisations that help us to meet this challenge and FareShare does just that and more”.

Five years of support already

Cargil has already provided more than £291,000 to FareShare over the past five years. This has helped the charity redistribute enough food for more than 1.1 million meals.
