Fundraising Ireland has appointed Anne Maguire as the organisation's first Chief Executive. She joins from Haven where she was CEO. Before that she held senior positions in Goal, Lehman Brothers and KCSA PR in New York.

At Fundraising Ireland she will lead the implementation of the strategic plan and focus in particular on delivering on its core mission of building fundraising capacity in the not-for-profit sector.

This includes developing and increasing the education resource available in fundraising. In September of this year FI held its first certificate in Fundraising and 2013 will see both the continuation of the certificate and the introduction of a new diploma in fundraising.

Chair of Fundraising Ireland Aidan Stacey said: "Fundraising Ireland is at a crucial stage of its development. The demand from our members has increased over the last number of years and Fundraising Ireland aims to continue to deliver on their needs. The appointment of Anne as CEO will ensure we can achieve our goal of delivering on our member’s expectations.”

Fundraising Ireland has received funding from the Irish government through the Forum on Philanthropy & Fundraising and the One Foundation. Both these investments are aimed at ensuring that the not for profit sector in Ireland has the fundraising capacity to deliver in the current climate of austerity.
