A website has been created to provide advice on funding and bid writing for advocacy organisations. Advocacy Funding features a free email course on how to produce better tenders. It is also building up a series of weekly articles on advocacy bid writing and service design.

The site has been set up by Joe Roberson, a mental health advocacy manager turned bid writer and service designer from Somerset. Over the next 12 months he intends to produce 50 ‘how-to’ articles on bidding for tenders, applying for grants and improving performance and outcomes.

He explained why he set up the Advocacy Funding site.

“Smaller advocacy organisations are at particular risk” he said, “as they often can’t afford in-house or external writers to produce their bids. This site should help them to improve both their tender writing skills and their grant application skills, whoever their client group is.”
