The YouTube Nonprofit Programme has been updated to offer more to charities that take part.
You can now read some detailed advice on how charities can make the most out of video on YouTube and from the programme. The Playbook Guide: YouTube for Good includes sections on how to create content, raise funds, and connect with other community members.
In addition, as part of its recent redesign, YouTube has made the donate button on charities’ channels even more prominent, “making it easier than ever to support the causes you care about”.
The YouTube Nonprofit Programme was launched in 2007 and since then 16,000 nonprofits in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia have taken advantage of it. According to the company, “there are hundreds of nonprofit organisations with millions of views on YouTube, and dozens with more than ten million views, like Greenpeace, Khan Academy and UNICEF.”

YouTube’s Nonprofit Programme might well see more developments following the appointment of Hunter Walk to head YouTube’s social good activities. Previously Director of Product Management at Google, he will now be focusing on supporting causes and nonprofits, education, and activisim and free expression.
